Institute of Forensic Psychology Continuing Education Programs
The Institute of Forensic Psychology (IFP) is committed to conducting all continuing education (CE) activities in accordance with the American Psychological Association’s Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct. The Institute complies with all legal and ethical responsibilities related to nondiscrimination in promotional activities, program content, and the treatment of program participants.
This Grievance Reporting Policy outlines the procedures for submitting and resolving concerns related to IFP continuing education programs and ensures that participants have clear, accessible avenues for reporting grievances.
Availability of the Grievance Policy and Submission Process
The Institute of Forensic Psychology maintains a Participant Grievance Reporting Policy that is publicly available and does not require submission by request. This policy and the Participant Grievance Submission Form are accessible on the Institute’s website within the Continuing Education section under Policies & Procedures.
Participants are informed of the grievance process and provided with direct access to the policy and submission form through program-related communications, including registration confirmations and post-program materials. Grievances may be submitted at any time.
Oversight and Responsibility
The monitoring and assessment of compliance with this policy are the responsibility of the CE Chair, in consultation with members of the Training & Education Division. All grievances are reviewed promptly and handled in a confidential manner.
Types of Grievances and Resolution Procedures
1. Grievance Regarding a Speaker, Content, or Presentation Style
Upon receipt of a grievance that necessitates action, whether submitted verbally or in writing, the participant will be asked to submit the concern in written form. The CE Chair will forward the written grievance to the speaker while maintaining the confidentiality of the participant’s identity.
2. Grievance Regarding a Webinar Offering, Content, Level of Presentation, or Facilities
If a grievance concerns a webinar offering, its content, the level of presentation, or the facilities in which the program was conducted, the CE Chair will serve as mediator and final arbitrator. If remedial action is requested, the CE Chair may take one or more of the following actions:
a. Transfer the participant to an alternative webinar
b. Issue a credit for a subsequent year’s webinar
c. Provide a partial or full refund of the webinar fee
Actions involving credit or refund require a written memorandum documenting the grievance for internal record-keeping purposes. The memorandum does not require the participant’s signature.
3. Grievance Regarding a Specific Aspect of the CE Program
If a grievance concerns a specific aspect of the Institute of Forensic Psychology’s CE program, the CE Chair will review the concern and attempt to arbitrate a resolution consistent with APA standards and Institute policies.
Submission of Grievances
Participants may submit a grievance using the Participant Grievance Submission Form available on the Institute of Forensic Psychology website. Completed forms may be submitted via email or mail using the contact information provided on the form.
All grievance submissions are treated confidentially and reviewed by CE administration.
